About
A lean business shouldn't need an enterprise tool stack.
SoloScaleLab is an independent publication for freelancers, consultants, and solo service providers who want to run a tighter business without paying for software they don't use.
Why this site exists
Most software advice is written for teams. It assumes seats, admin roles, approval flows, and a budget approved by someone else. A solo business has none of those. What it has is a fixed number of billable hours and a monthly bill that quietly grows.
So the useful question isn't "which tool has the most features". It is "which tool covers what I actually do, at a price that doesn't eat my margin". Every page here is written to answer that second question.
Who this is for
- Freelancers in their first two years, before revenue is predictable.
- Independent consultants billing by the day or the project.
- Solo service providers replacing spreadsheets with something sturdier.
- Anyone deliberately building a low-cost, low-overhead business.
What you will and won't find here
You will find comparisons with stated criteria, prices with a verification date, and reviews that say plainly where a product is the wrong choice. You will not find a "top 20" list padded to fill a page, a rating invented to look authoritative, or a product recommended because it pays a better commission.
How the site is funded
SoloScaleLab is funded by affiliate commissions: if you buy a product through a link on this site, the vendor may pay us a percentage at no extra cost to you. That is the whole business model. It is disclosed on every page that contains such a link, and it does not determine which products we cover or what we conclude about them. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
Who writes it
Pages are published under the SoloScaleLab Editorial byline. [TODO: replace with the real author name, relevant background, and a short statement of qualification before launch]
Where a page was produced with research assistance rather than hands-on testing, the review states that explicitly. We do not describe a product as "tested" unless it was actually used for the work described. See the review methodology.
